Careers
Few people. Real work.
Goldberg is a business-engineering firm. We find where companies lose money and build the systems that stop it. The team is deliberately small, the problems are real, and the people who take them on own the result.
We hire across 6 teams and 10 disciplines. We open a seat only when the work needs one. If this is your craft, introduce yourself.
Ethos
We are a small firm that does serious work.
We take on a few partners a year and engineer the systems that fix where their business loses money. The work is measured before it is built, owned by the person who builds it, and made to last.
There is no volume here, no churn, no launch you have to survive. We hire people who can own their craft, then give them the room to go deep. You will sit next to people who take the work, and each other’s time, seriously.
How we work
Values
What we hold to.
Measure, don’t guess.
Every engagement starts by measuring where the money goes. We hold ourselves to the same standard. Decisions are made from evidence, not from seniority or instinct.
Own what you ship.
You carry your work from the first sketch to production and the result it produces. Nothing gets thrown over a wall. If your name is on it, it is yours.
A few clients, done right.
We take on a small number of partners a year. That restraint is deliberate. It protects the quality of the work and the sanity of the people doing it.
Senior by default, room to grow.
We hire people who can own their craft, then give them the scope to go deeper. A small team, real responsibility, and no layers to hide behind.
Have your team’s back.
A small team only works when people cover for each other. We review honestly, share what we learn, and never let someone ship alone.
Questions
Before you apply.
How do you hire?
Send the application on the role that fits. A real person reads it, not a filter. If there is a fit, we talk. Then a short, paid trial on a piece of real work, and an offer. Four steps, no theatre.
Where will I work?
Every role is flexible: remote, hybrid, or in-person, whatever fits the person and the work. We care about what you ship, not where you sit. When time together helps, we make it happen.
Is the paid trial real?
Yes. The trial is a short, scoped piece of real work, paid at the role’s rate. Both sides find out quickly whether the fit is real, before anyone commits to more.
Do you hire juniors?
We hire for craft, not years. Most seats expect you to own your work without much hand-holding, but we read every application. If you are early in your career and can show the work, apply.
What stack and tools do you use?
It depends on the team. Engineering and AI lean on TypeScript and Python and the usual model and agent tooling; data lives in SQL and the warehouse; design runs the standard industry tools, plus WebGL and motion for the 3D seat. We care that you can pick up a tool, not that you already know ours.
How long does the process take?
Usually two to three weeks from application to offer, trial included. We move at the speed of being sure, not slower.
What makes an application stand out?
Show the work. A portfolio, a repository, something you shipped and the result it produced. We read craft, not generic cover letters.
How does a small firm hire for so many disciplines?
We do not hold 10 seats open. The disciplines are the crafts we build the firm from. We open a seat only when a client’s work needs it. Everything else is a standing invitation: introduce yourself, and when the work calls for your craft, you are the first call. You can see the live openings, and every discipline grouped by team, on the jobs page.
